High Desert Opportunity
Donor Bio: High Desert Opportunity
High Desert Opportunity (HDO) was founded by a dedicated group of volunteers committed to fostering economic growth and showcasing business opportunities in the High Desert region. What began in 1982 as a conference at the Spring Valley Lake Country Club evolved into one of the region's most impactful events, attracting business leaders and entrepreneurs to the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds, Rancho Cucamonga, and ultimately back to the Victor Valley as the High Desert Opportunity Summit in collaboration with the Victor Valley College Foundation.
For decades, HDO provided valuable insights into the cities and towns of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Hesperia, and Victorville—offering economic updates, an exhibit hall, and keynote addresses from renowned speakers. Although the annual conference concluded in 2018 due to growing competition and limited resources, the HDO board of directors ensured that its mission endured. By establishing annual scholarships, High Desert Opportunity continues to invest in the education of future generations, empowering students to become the innovative professionals who will shape the region’s economic future.
